JAWORSKI ESTELLE age 97, formerly of Hamtramck and Livonia, passed away peacefully in Oscoda on April 1, 2012. Born on the 4th of July in 1914, in Manchester, New Hampshire to Teresa and Ignacy Dziepak. She was always proud to celebrate her birthday with the rest of the country. Estelle was the beloved wife of the late Judge Mitchell S. Jaworski and the dear mother of Mitchell (Ida), Carl (Sylvia), Gary, Mark, and Marcia (Ken) Anton. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. An energetic and civic minded person, she was active in the Hamtramck community volunteering with the Red Feather Association, St. Anne's Community House, Friendship House and the Hamtramck Beautification Committee. She was a Den Mother with Cub Scout Pack 514, a member of the Hamtramck High School PTA, a former parishioner of Holy Cross National Catholic Church and served on the Hamtramck City Council. KEATING MARILYN ANN (NEE HAYBALL) passed away peacefully with the same grace and dignity that she lived her life on April 4th, 2012 after a courageous six year fight against breast cancer. Marilyn had her loving husband, best friend and soul mate Jack and her step-son John by her side. KERN FRANCIS (FRANK) JOSEPH, SR. Age 89, passed away February 5, 2012 at his winter home in Palm Springs, California. He was born in Detroit and graduated with honors from Catholic Central High School where he was also captain of the football team. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. and Masters in Education and played Center on the football team in 1942-43. He served in the V12 Unit of the Marine Corp. and went on to coach championship high school football at Croswell, Michigan. He spent the remainder of his career teaching physical education in the Detroit Public School System. Upon his retirement he enjoyed sailing the Great Lakes on his 34' Tartan sailboat, golfing and enjoying his homes in Michigan and Palm Springs. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly, and will be sadly missed by his children, Julie Fielek, Nancy Kern, Frank J. Kern, Jr. and George Kern. He also leaves behind sisters Theresa Crinnion and Mary Lou Hyde, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He often said he had a wonderful life and had no regrets. KILPATRICK KATHLEEN SUSAN (LOURIA) The Lord must have needed another angel to join His chorus and sing His praises as He called "Kathy" home on Christmas Eve of 2011. Kathleen was a long-time resident of Palm Harbor, Florida when she wasn't traveling throughout Europe and Asia. She was born on November 15, 1949 in Wyandotte General Hospital in Michigan She was preceded on her eternal journey by her beloved son, James Alan, and by her parents Bernadette (Steffes) and Alex Louria. Her brothers, Bernard and David also preceded her. She graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1967. She retired from the Norfolk & Southern Railroad of Melvindale, MI. She leaves behind her husband of forty-three years, James Lee and her daughter Michelle Rene Read (David) and two much-treasured grandchildren Amanda Paige Read and David Austin Read of Tampa, FL. Further, she will be deeply missed by her sister Joan Robertson (Donald) of Flat Rock, MI, her sister Janet Rodriguez (Mario) of Lincoln Park, MI, her sister Bernadine Kreitner and her brother Lee Louria, both of Lincoln Park. Kathleen will especially miss the many nieces and nephews that the Lord had blessed her with.Kathleen was a patriot, and she was a member of Post 67, Lincoln Park, MI American Legion Auxiliary.Ever the adventuress, Kathy was a resident of Fintas, Kuwait when Sadam Hussein invaded Kuwait on August 2, 1990. Only through daring driving were Kathy, her daughter Michelle and her husband Jim able to drive past the invading forces and escape through the border of Saudi Arabia and into the city of Khafji. Eventually, James' employer, McDonnell-Douglas Corporation, redeployed the three from Saudi Arabia to the city of Detroit. Never giving in to bullies, Kathleen returned to Kuwait when the last of the oil-well fires were extinguished.From her base in Kuwait, Kathleen took many trips to Europe and Asia. She was very enthused with a trip to Beijing, China where she walked the "Great Wall". She had two very special trips that she called her "pilgrimages". The first pilgrimage was to the grotto of Mother Mary in Lourdes, France. Her second pilgrimage was to Israel. She talked often of how she went to the birthplace of Jesus in Bethlehem. She also liked to tell her friends how she had actually walked where Jesus had walked the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem where she performed the nine Stations of the Cross.A private family graveside memorial service will be held April 14th, 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Shrine, 8743U. LORD STEPHANIE PETRI Passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the age of 65, at her home in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Stephanie was born on January 4, 1947 in Detroit to Henry and Avalo Petri. She grew up in Grosse Pointe Farms where she met and married her husband of 42 years, Richard Stanton Lord. They moved to Ann Arbor in 1973 where they raised three children. Stephanie was the creative force behind many charity events for the University of Michigan, local arts organizations and hospitals. She will be remembered for her mischievous humor, immense love for people and animals, deep faith in God, incredible baked goods shared far and wide, and her yodel often performed while driving away from a friend's house or on top of a ski hill. She is survived by her husband Richard S. Lord (Ann Arbor, MI); her children Henry and daughter-in-law Rachel who are expecting Stephanie's first grandchild in a month (Framingham, MA), Heather (New York, NY), Hadley (Ann Arbor, MI); her sister Pamela P. MACHETTE HOWARD EVERETTE Of Birmingham, MI formerly of Saginaw, MI, Passed away, March 15, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac. Howard was born December 18, 1936, in Saginaw to the late Everette and Evelyn Machette. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1956. He attended University of Michigan where he received a Master's in Arts and a Bachelor's of Science in Design. He taught in the Birmingham School System for 25 years. Howard loved planting flowers in his yard. He enjoyed antiques and traveling to countries around the world. MADDEN BEVERLY ANN age 75, died April 3, 2012, following a courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer, with her loving husband of 53 years, Michael at her side. Beverly was the devoted mother to Michael (Sue) of E. Grand Rapids, MI, Robert of Lake Worth, FL, and Marjie Hemstreet (Michael) of Longmont, CO; and was the cherished grandmother of Mitchell, Michael Henry, Cole, Miranda, and Hana. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Farmington and St. Brendan Parish in Clearwater Beach, FL. Beverly was an active member with the Council of Catholic Women and previously the American Cancer Society along with various other volunteer organizations. She was a kind and loyal friend to so many who were lucky enough to cross her path in life. SAURA THOMAS, 79, passed away on April 03, 2012 in Orlando Florida after a prolonged illness. He was born May 11, 1932 in Roseville, MI. He lived most of his life in Roseville and Sterling Heights, where he was an active volunteer in the community and church. His final year was spent in Orlando Florida near family, sunshine and sea, just as he always wanted. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia (Patt) married for over 48 years.
