Eating well

Whether you have osteoporosis or are trying to prevent it, diet is very important. Adults who are 50 or older should have 1,200 - 1,500 milligrams of calcium every day to stay healthy. Calcium should be taken in divided doses, rather than all at once. Separate doses into twice or three times daily for optimal absorption. It will ensure your body has enough to function properly, without having to strip it from your bones. Experts recommend we get between 400 and 800 international units of Vitamin D every day. Egg yolks, milk, liver, and fatty fish all contain Vitamin D, and you can also get it from direct sunlight.
